The defending state Division 3 champions beat the state Division 2 runner-up in girls volleyball on Saturday.
Seems like nothing new for Frontier Regional, which swept Melrose, 3-0.
The Red Hawks (10-1) received 12 kills from Lauren Davenport and 27 assists from Elizabeth Fuqua in the 28-26, 25-12, 25-17, road win.
Ashley Telega added seven kills, while Hailey Orloski and Olivia Deane each had five.
Davenport had eight digs with Orloski adding seven. Deane led the team with four aces, while Davenport and Orloski each had three.
Melrose lost in five sets to Marlboro in last year’s state final.
Algonquin 1, Northampton 0 — The Blue Devils allowed a goal with four minutes left in the first half and couldn’t net an equalizer in the home loss, Saturday.
Sydney Lewandowski made eight saves in the loss.
Hampshire Regional 3, Sabis 0 — Brianne Salomao, Maggie Rubeck and Carley Stenson each scored as the Raiders cruised in Springfield, Saturday.
Jackie Babyak, Sophie Aldrich and Emma Kuntz each had one assist. Katie Taylor made eight saves in the shutout.
Hopkins Academy 2, Pioneer 1 — Tia Fyden scored two second-half goals with both assists coming from Sammy Jenks as the Golden Hawks (2-6) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to win in Northfield, Saturday.
Megan Jolly made six saves in the win, Hopkins’ second straight.
Greenfield 7, Northampton 0 — Sara Grimaldi made 21 saves but the Blue Devils fell on the road, Saturday.
