The Carey brothers ran 1-2, and the Frontier Regional boys cross country team swept a tri-meet at McCann Tech, Tuesday.
The Red Hawks beat Granby, 20-41, and McCann Tech, 15-50. Granby won, 21-34, against McCann.
Carsten Carey crossed the line first in 17 minutes, 40 seconds, and his brother Peter Carey was second with the same time. Granby’s Andrew Hutchinson took third in 17:41. Alex Sharp was fourth for Frontier (17:51) followed by Abe Gould of Granby in fifth (18:15). Frontier occupied the next three slots with Gehrig Brynda in sixth (18:39), George Balis seventh (18:47) and Brett Robinson eighth (18:49).
Sam Gould placed 12th for the Rams (19:35), and Eric Rakowski was 13th (19:37).
In the girls race, Frontier beat McCann Tech, 15-50, and Granby won, 22-33, against the Hornets. The Red Hawks swept the top five spots.
Angelina Egland finished first (21:28), Marie Diemand took second (21:55), Leah Gump placed third (21:58), Abigail Howard was fourth (21:58) and Fiona Ferry finished fifth (22:11).
Kylie Biron led Granby in seventh (23:44). Danielle Hamel was 12th (24:18), Katelyn White followed in 14th (24:33), Jordan Healy finished 17th (25:31) and Megan Eisnor-Janosz placed 23th (26:53).
