Eighth-grader Logan Graves could not have picked a better time to score his first varsity goal.

Graves scored in the 13th minute to give the Smith Academy boys soccer team a two-goal lead in its Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament first-round match with Smith Vocational.

The goal proved to be the game-winner as the eighth-seeded Falcons beat the No. 9 Vikings, 2-1, Sunday at Holyoke High School.

Pat Lavelle had an assist on the play, his second of the game. Lavelle helped Nate Moynihan score in the 10th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Eighth-grader Ryan Belina made 10 saves, including a handful of stops in the first half to help keep Smith Voke scoreless by the break.

Jacob Rafus scored from Jackson Downie in the 64th minute for the Vikings.

Tyrese Cordova made four saves in defeat.

It was the final game for Smith Vocational seniors Mike Brown, Thomas Doyle, Austin King, Zachary LaChance, Anthony Palazzi , Cameron Perry and Rafus.

Smith Academy will visit No. 1 Lenox (7-9-2), Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

East Longmeadow 2, Amherst Regional 0 — The seventh-seeded Hurricanes dropped their Division 1 first-round match against the No. 10 Spartans, Saturday at Mahar in Orange.

Amherst finished the year 9-10 and will graduate a large senior class: Ammar Abdel-Maksoud, Sam Brainin, Matt Essig, Liam Felton, Justin Guaytanof, Marshall Hanke, Reece Nelson, Itai Zilberstein, Zaim Elkalai, SoulJah Ferreria, Akeme Mallory-Hilson, Denilson Martins, Giovanni Rivera and Martin Thompson.

East Longmeadow will visit No. 1 Longmeadow, Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

Sabis 3, Hampshire Regional 2 — The fifth-seeded Raiders fell behind 3-0 and the deficit was too much to overcome in a Division 3 first-round loss, Saturday at Holyoke High.

Mike McColgan and Grady Fern pulled Hampshire within 3-2, but the Raiders couldn’t net an equalizer. Gus Brasil assisted McColgan.

Colin Boyle made five saves in defeat.

Hampshire closed its season 8-5-3 and will graduate Anthony Bartolomeo, Andrew Cebula, Piotrek Jacek, Tyler Millay, Justin Szawajkowski and McColgan.

No. 12 Sabis (11-5-1) will play at No. 4 Easthampton (16-2-1) Monday, at 2:30 p.m. at Nonotuck Park.

Girls soccer

Agawam 3, Northampton 2 — The Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead into halftime of their Western Massachusetts Division 1 Tournament quarterfinal match, but the Brownies rallied for the home win, Sunday.

Gabby Katz scored from Caroline Tanner, then Tanner added a goal of her own for the fifth-seeded Blue Devils (8-9-2).

No. 4 Agawam will play No. 1 Minnechaug in the semifinals, Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Springfield Central.

It was the final game for Northampton seniors Brigitte Goeler-Slough, Natalie Goeler-Slough and Anna Stiles.

South Hadley 8, Greenfield 0 — The top-seeded Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead on Saturday and cruised into the quarterfinals of the Division 3 tournament.

Reese Carey had four goals, while Paige Marjanski and Anna Evans each had a goal and one assist.

Olivia Blaney, Alexa Blaney and Farrell Dawson each had two assists. Lindsay Marjanski and Teagan Gawron scored one goal apiece.

Bailey Gawron made one save in the shutout.

South Hadley (19-0-0) will host No. 8 Mount Greylock (11-5-3), Monday at 5 p.m.

Hampshire 4, Easthampton 0 — Olivia Aldrich scored twice as the sixth-seeded Raiders beat their rivals, Saturday at Holyoke High, and advanced to the Division 3 quarterfinals.

Aldrich scored the first two goals, assisted by Sophie Aldrich and Abby Goodnow, respectively.

Sydney Shumway scored from Emma Kuntz as Hampshire took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Juliana Dickinson added an unassisted goal in the second half. Katie Taylor made four saves.

Abby Coleman stopped seven shots for the No. 11 Eagles (11-6-2).

It was the final game for Easthampton seniors Olivia Downer, Molly Hancock, Kasi Marowitz, Jaquy Perez and Lili Pioli.

Hampshire (11-5-1) will visit No. 3 Monson (12-3-4), Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Pathfinder 3, Smith Vocational 0 — The ninth-seeded Vikings (9-9-1) fell on the road in the first round of the Division 4 tournament, Friday.

It was the final game for senior Sydney Cyr, Lizzy hardy, Marissa Mayhew, Karlie Petlock, Emily Start and Lilian Wiseman.

No. 8 Pathfinder (11-4-4) will play at No. 1 Granby (12-5-1) at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the quarterfinals.
