Hannah Fox scored 23 points and added three assists and three steals as the top-ranked Amherst College women’s basketball team cruised past Renesselaer, 72-39, at LaFrak Gymnasium Sunday to win the Top-Off Tournament.
Dani Valdez added 10 points and nine rebounds. Madeline Eck had 14 points and eight rebounds.
Amherst beat Farmingdale State 64-35 in its opener on Saturday. The Mammoths held the Rams to 12 first-half points.
Fox and Lauren Pelosi each had 11 points. Eck added 10 points and four assists.
Meghan Sullivan (Granby) had six points, five rebounds, three assists and a team-high three steals, while sister Kate had six points and two steals.
Amherst has won 68 straight games.
Smith 72, Hartwick 65 — Katy McClellan had 23 points, Dashelle Gleissner netted 13, and Lauren Bondi and Katelyn Pickunka (Westhampton) each had 12 as the Pioneers (4-0) won the Tyler Tip-Off Tournament at home, Sunday.
Smith beat Norwich 73-54 on Saturday. Bondi had 19 points and Kennedy Guest-Pritchett added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Pioneers.
Pickunka had 10 points off the bench.
Amherst 101, Kean College 52 — The Mammoths dropped 11 3-pointers in the second half en route to the blowout, Saturday at LaFrak Gymnasium.
Dylan Groff had 12 points off the bench, while Joseph Schneider (11 points) and Fru Che (10) also reached double figures.
Garrett Day, Devonn Allen and Groff each had three 3s.
Tufts 3, Amherst 0 — The Mammoths (14-5-1) bowed out of the NCAA Tournament in the third round with the loss in Medford, Saturday.
Bernie White made five saves in defeat.
William Smith 2, Amherst 1 — Rubii Tamen scored from Caleigh Plaut and Maeve McNamara to tie the game in the second half Saturday, but William Smith netted the winner with two minutes left to advance to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
Antonia Tammaro made seven saves for Amherst (15-3-2).
Connecticut College 2, Amherst 1 — Angelina Wiater scored but the Mammoths (1-0-1, 1-0-1 NESCAC) fell at home, Saturday.
NCAA Championships — Clark Ricciardelli placed 25th in 24:53.2 on the 8-kilometer course as Amherst placed sixth in Wisconsin, Saturday.
Amherst 168, Colby 123 — Nina Fitzgerald, Nawoo Kim and Meg Parker went 1-2-3, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke as the Mammoths cruised, Saturday.
Wellesley 202, Mount Holyoke 98 — Samantha Nemivant won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, but the Lyons fell on the road, Saturday.
Westfield State 155, Smith 144 — Charlotte Crandall (1,000 free, 500 free), Desi Stoyanova (200 free, 200 fly) and Paula Torre-Nieto (50 free, 50 fly) each won two events, but the Pioneers fell on the road, Saturday.
Simmons 232, New England 43 — Senior Kerry Fleming (Northampton) won the 500-yard freestyle and the 50 free for the Sharks (7-2), Saturday.
Amherst 165, Colby 123 — Eric Wong and Kou Li went 1-2, respectively, in the 200 freestyle as the Mammoths rolled, Saturday.
