Kyle Murdock led three Granby boys basketball players in double figures with 18 points, as the Rams beat Hampshire Regional, 61-53, in Westhampton Tuesday.

Connor Gaughan added 11, and Brandon Wishart had 10 for Granby (2-0).

Justin Forest drained five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 21 points for the Raiders (0-2). Dominick Lewinski chipped in 14 points, while Nick Pelligrini added 10.

Ware 64, Smith Academy 41 โ€” Carter Woodward hit three 3s and scored 11 points in a home loss. Brett Gratz added 10 points and Jack Zigmont nine for the Falcons (1-1). Max Bartlett grabbed 11 rebounds. Nate Moynihan and Zigmont each had three assists.

Frontier Regional 59, Southwick 46 โ€” The Red Hawks made some adjustments to break away from a halftime tie. Coach Ben Barshefsky said Frontier had better player identification and stopped Southwickโ€™s transition on defense. On offense, the Red Hawks made sharper cuts.

Carsten Carey had 23 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks to lead the effort. Alex Sharp had six assists and Kalen Evans had 13 points and seven steals. Owen Morse chipped in with 13 points.

Pioneer Christian 50, Smith Vocational 42 โ€” Jayvon Cordova had 12 points, while Mike Brown and Andrew Pierce each had eight points as the Vikings dropped their opener at home.

Smith Voke led 37-35 entering the fourth quarter.

Duggan 74, Gateway Regional 31 โ€” Evan Cortis score 12 points, and Dylan Lafreniere added 10, as the Gators (0-1) opened with a loss.

Taconic 69, Northampton 53 โ€” Mike McCarthy scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a rematch of the Division 2 championship game.

Jaeden Johndrow had 10 points for the Blue Devils (0-2), while Dillon Diemand had nine.

Sabis 76, South Hadley 29 โ€” Austin Robinette led the Tigers (0-4) with eight points in a road loss.

Girls basketball

Hopkins Academy 54, Mohawk 21 โ€” The Golden Hawks led 23-6 after the first quarter and 34-7 at halftime en route to the blowout in Buckland.

Sam Jenks had 22 points with four 3-pointers, as well as five assists for Hopkins (2-1). A.J. Mitchell had eight rebounds and seven points, while triplets Carolyn Kowal-Safron (six points) and Allison Kowal-Safron (eight points) combined for 14 points.

Westfield 43, Amherst Regional 33 โ€” Delaney MacPhetres scored 14 points in a home loss. Erin Klaes added eight for the Hurricanes (0-1).

Palmer 65, Frontier 50 โ€” Amelia Sobieski led three Red Hawks in double figures with 16 points. Olivia Deane totaled 14 points and Marie Diemand added 11.

Frontier stormed out to a 16-11 lead after one quarter, but Palmer outscored the Hawks by a 40-20 margin over the next two quarters to take control.

โ€œWe got killed on the boards,โ€ Frontier coach Rick Recore said. โ€œIt wasnโ€™t for lack of effort. I didnโ€™t have us prepared and in decent enough shape rebounding-wise for this game. Iโ€™ll take the hit on this one.โ€
