Easthampton freshman guard Emma Downer beat Smith Academy junior Maggie Hession to a loose ball and scored the game-winning layup with six seconds left as the Eagles won, 29-27, Thursday in Easthampton.
Downer finished with six points, but it was senior Val Murphy who got the Eagles to the finish line.
Murphy turned the game into a volleyball match as the forward spiked 18 blocks to go along with 13 rebounds and 10 points in a triple-double.
Sofie Massa added 10 points for Easthampton (1-4, 1-3 Franklin West).
Abby Coleman had seven steals, five assists and three points. Hannah Coleman grabbed nine rebounds.
The Eagles outscored the Falcons 16-7 in the second half.
Emma Kelly scored a game-high 14 points for Smith Academy (4-3, 1-2). Karlie Guimon hit a 3 and scored six points, while Victoria Smiarowski added seven.
Easthampton 61, South Hadley 50 — The Eagles (5-1, 3-0 Bi-County East) outscored the Tigers (1-8, 1-1) 17-7 in the third quarter to break away from a two-point halftime lead on the road.
Ronan Mottor had 20 points, while Jack Bacis and Sam Colenback each had nine for Easthampton.
Hunter Carey had 21 points and Hunter Borowski added 12 for South Hadley.
Westfield Tech 57, Gateway Regional 40 — Jayden Santiago-Lopez tallied 10 points in a home loss. Dylan Lafreniere and Evan Cortis scored seven each.
Spencer Buckman hit two threes and had six points for the Gators (0-7, 0-4 Tri-County South), and Joel Sakaske had six.
Smith Vocational 48, Pathfinder 31 — The Vikings had as many 2-point field goals as 3-pointers as they shot the Pioneers out of Northampton.
Jayvon Cordova had four 3s and 20 points. Colin Earle had three 3s and nine points, while Tyler Top added two 3s and eight points.
Cordova added 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Andrew Pierce had 11 rebounds, while Carlos Rivera had nine boards.
Monson 55, Granby 54 — Ryan Gaughan finished with 17 points and Nate Breault added 15 pointson five 3-pointers, but the Rams (4-3, 0-2 Bi-County West) fell at home to the Mustangs (3-3, 1-0).
Westfield 54, Amherst Regional 46 — Evan Perry scored a career-high 20 points but the Hurricanes (1-5) fell to the Bombers (1-6) at home.
Amherst held Westfield to six points in the third quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 29-18 halftime deficit.
