NORTHAMPTON – A Springfield man was found seemingly unconscious in his car at a King Street gas station early Thursday morning, police said.
At 12:25 a.m., the 37-year-old man appeared to be not breathing or moving in the driver’s seat of his car at Pride gas station, Northampton Police reported on its Facebook page. Police said they found what they thought was individually-packaged crack cocaine in his car, along with $630 in cash and three cell phones.
“These items are all consistent with the sale of narcotics,” police wrote in the post.
The car, which was running, had loud music playing and contained two partially-full bottles of alcohol, including an open pint of Hennessy Cognac on the passenger seat and a bottle of Heineken in the cup holder, police said.
Police said they thought the man may be dead, but the man regained conciouness after Northampton Fire Rescue put him on a stretcher, and he was later transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
The man was charged with two second-offense OUIs, posession of a class B drug, possession with intent to distribute a class B drug, operating with a suspended license, and two counts of posession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
