The UMass men’s lacrosse team couldn’t keep up with No. 13 Ohio State, as the Buckeyes pulled away in the third quarter for an 11-7 victory, Saturday at Garber Field.
Tied at 6 at halftime, Ohio State (3-0) outscored the Minutemen 4-0 in the third.
Gabriel Procyk had three goals, while Jeff Trainor (assist) added two for UMass (0-2). Billy Philpott and Scott Del Zotto had one goal each.
Amherst 4, Middlebury 1 — Joey Lupo scored twice and had one assist as the Mammoths (13-6-4, 10-4-4 NESCAC) won, Saturday at Orr Rink.

Davidson 64, UMass 49 — Jessica George and Destiney Philoxy each had 11 points for the Minutewomen (13-13, 5-7 Atlantic 10), Saturday at the Mullins Center.
Smith 79, Wheaton 59 — Lauren Bondi had 26 points and Kennedy Guest-Pritchett had 21 points and 19 rebounds as the Pioneers (20-5, 13-3 NEWMAC) closed the regular season at home Saturday.
Emerson College 75, Mount Holyoke 35 — Katlyn Grover had 15 points for the Lyons (1-24, 0-16 NEWMAC), Saturday.
Springfield 68, Clark 58 — Longtime Pride coach Naomi Graves picked up her 500th career victory on Saturday. She’s the 36th coach in the history of Division III to reach the mark.
Maya Kerstetter (Northampton) had eight points and four assists for the Cougars.
Amherst 2, Wesleyan 1 — Jamie McNamara and Emma Flynn each scored for the visiting Mammoths (12-10-2, 8-6-2 NESCAC), Sunday.
Amherst 1, Wesleyan 0 — Katelyn Pantera scored in the second period and the visiting Mammoths held on, Saturday.
UMass 3, Providence 1 — Riley Gregoire had three hits, while Madison Gimpl, Kaitlyn Stavinoha (double) and Danielle Ellis each had one RBI for the Minutewomen (1-5) in Game 2, Sunday at the Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom.
Iowa 5, UMass 3 — Ellis had a two-run double and Melissa Garcia had an RBI single, but the Minutewomen fell in Game 1 Sunday.
Missouri 5, UMass 0 — Ellis doubled and Amy Smith had a single for the Minutewomen in Game 1 Saturday.
Troy 5, UMass 1 — Stavinoha was 2-for-3 for the Minutewomen in Game 2 Saturday.
