Tell me about your shoes.“Adidas. I had a friend who worked there for awhile. These are from Jeremy Scott, the designer, and I have few of them.”
Haven’t you designed sneakers? “For Nike and Converse. The first Nikes I was trying to make them look like Ace Frehley’s space boots. They were all silver.”
Who makes your t-shirt? “Mishka from New York”
What does the eyeball mean? “They are watching you.”
How about your Adidas jacket? “I got it for Christmas, it’s a Pharrell thing.”
Why do you wear Adidas jackets? “Bob Marley.”
Your UMass style? “I was trying to dress like Nick Cave. It didn’t go over so well in the orchestra. We had a performance and some guy in the drum section said, ‘Why didn’t you comb your hair for this?’ And I said, ‘I did.’
I hated it, they were always backstabbing to win favor with the conductor.”
Your ski look? “Mostly from what I grew up on. K2 skis and Lange boots. Lange haven’t switched their style since the ‘60s. I like Spyder stuff, I wish it looked cooler, but I like the logo and Spider Savage, the skier.”
When did you start having long hair? “After the Nick Cave phase.”
