HAMPSHIRE COUNTY – Expect 2 to 6 inches of snow to fall between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for portions of northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts. The advisory says more snow may be possible mainly along and north of the Massachusetts Turnpike.
NWS advises drivers to plan on slippery conditions in the evening and morning commutes.
Towns in Hampshire County are issuing parking bans ahead of the storm.
In Amherst, the parking ban will begin Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. and run through Thursday at 7 p.m. Parking will be prohibited on all town streets and parking lots, except in the lower level of the parking garage, the town portion of the Pray Street lot and the northern row of the North Pleasant Street lot.
In Granby, a parking ban will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday and end at 4 p.m. Thursday. During that time, no on-street parking is allowed.
In Northampton, parking on all city streets and in city parking lots is prohibited from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, except on Main Street, where parking is prohibited from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. The Armory Street parking lot will be open for use, except from 8 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. to allow for plowing.
