The UMass men’s lacrosse team had 14 different players earn at least one point as the Minutemen beat New Jersey Institute of Technology, 19-7, at Rutgers-Newark’s Alumni Field on Saturday.
Sean Sconone made 10 saves and the defense held NJIT scoreless for 21 minutes, 35 seconds as UMass improved to 3-3.
Chris Connolly led UMass with six points on a goal and five assists. Gabriel Procyk added five points on four goals and an assist, while Devin Spencer scored four times as well.
Kevin Tobin and Jeff Trainor added two goals and an assist each. Matt Baugher, Jack Geiger, Tim Hoynes and Alex Shuster each scored their first collegiate goal. Nick Roy had his first career point with an assist.
Amherst 22, Bowdoin 9 — Evan Wolf and Matt Solberg each had four goals as the fifth-ranked Mammoths (3-0) rolled at Pratt Field, Saturday.

Hannah Gustafson had three goals, while Claire Dunbar, Katherine Malone and Leah Ritterband each had two.
Mount Holyoke 13, Western Connecticut State 10 — The Lyons (2-2) evened their record with the win in Clearwater, Florida, Sunday.
Simmons 11, Albertus Magnus 3 — Missie Maiewski, of Northampton, had a goal and an assist as the Sharks (2-) won on the road, Saturday.
Amherst 16, Bowdoin 12 — Isabelle Sennett had five goals as the Mammoths won on the road Saturday.
Western Michigan 6, UMass 5 (8) — The Minutewomen (9-11) led 4-0, but the Broncos (7-11) rallied Sunday at the USF Tournament in Tampa, Florida.
Kaitlyn Stavinoha was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Erin Stacevicz, Hannah Bunker and Jackie Kelley each had two hits.
Villanova 4, UMass 1 (8) — Kiara Oliver struck out 12 and allowed four hits, but the Wildcats broke through in extra innings at the USF Tournament, Saturday.
Stavinoha, Melissa Garcia and Alyssa Lyon each had two hits in defeat.
UMass 8, Seton Hall 5 — Riley Gregoire had three hits, while Bunker (two RBIs), Madison Gimpl (two RBIs) and Lyon (RBI) each had two at, Saturday.
Amherst 4, Susquehanna 3 — RonnieMarie Falasco (RBI) had two hits and Andrea Sanders scored twice as the Mammoths opened their season with a win, Sunday in Clermont, Florida.
Amherst 6, Worcester State 3 — Sage Innerarity (two hits) and Alyson Plaman each had two hits as the Mammoths (2-0) won their second game, Sunday.
Gordon 11, Smith 7 — Megan McGrath was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Alyssa Pioggia had two hits and two runs, but the Pioneers dropped their opener in Clermont, Florida, Sunday.
Smith 6, Ursinus 5 — The Pioneers scored four runs in the seventh to rally for their first win of the season, Sunday in Clermont, Florida.
In the seventh, Jocelyn Esquer had an RBI double, Emma Kraus and Stephanie Konas each had RBI singles and Jane Casey-Fleener’s fielder’s choice produced the final run.
UMass 14, UT Rio Grande Valley 11 — Logan Greene (five RBIs) had two hits, including a three-run homer, while Connor Smith hit a grand slam as the Minutemen (4-3) snapped three game losing streak Sunday in Edinburg, Texas.

Sophomore Molly McCutcheon (Florence) qualified for the Zone 1, Region 4 championships after earning her second blue ribbon of the season in walk-trot-canter as Stonehill took first-place at Autumn Sky Farm, hosted by Endicott College on Saturday in its final Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 show.
