The UMass women’s lacrosse team withstood a late charge by Ohio State and held on for a 15-14 victory, Monday in DeLand, Florida.
The Minutewomen (4-2) led 15-10 following Kiley Anderson’s goal with 4 minutes, 42 seconds left. The Buckeyes (6-2) scored four straight to pull within one with 42 seconds left.
Anderson finished with seven goals, while Cassidy Doster had three. Olivia Muscella and Kaitlyn Cerasi (assist) each had two goals. Haley Connaughton added three assists. Gina Carroll made nine saves.
Franklin and Marshall 8, Smith 2 — Alyssa Pioggia was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Lucy Grant added two hits but the Pioneer dropped their first game in Clermont, Florida
Smith 9, Becker 7 — Eryn Lee hit a solo homer and Lydia DeAngelo added a three-run shot for Smith in its second game in Clermont, Florida.
Amherst 5, Kenyon 4 — The matches was tied 3-3 after singles, but Zach Bessette and Jayson Fung, and Sean Wei and Harris Foulkes won their doubles matches to lift the Mammoths (4-0) over the Lords in Orlando, Florida.
Amherst 6, Carnegie Mellon 3 — Claire Evans and Anya Ivenitsky won at third doubles, and Evans added a sweep at No. 6 singles as the third-ranked Mammoths (3-0) won in Orlando, Florida.
Winona State 5, Mount Holyoke 2 — The Lyons fell to 0-2 with the loss at the USTA Center in Orlando, Florida.
