Hannah Palau scored with 19 seconds left in overtime as the UMass women’s lacrosse team beat Duquesne, 16-15, in Pittsburgh, Friday.

In the overtime, Duquesne won the opening draw and Michaela Connolly had a shot on net, but Lauren Hiller made the save. UMass turned the ball over on the clear attempt, but Ally Murphy got the ball back on a caused turnover allowing the Minutewomen to call timeout and set up the winning play.

The Minutewomen (10-3, 5-0 Atlantic 10) trailed 14-13 late, but Kaitlyn Cerasi and Haley Connaughton tallied goals for a 15-14 edge with 1:30 left.

Stephanie Croke (two assists) and Palau each finished with four goals, while Kiley Anderson had three goals and one assist.

Connaughton added four helpers to her one goal. Hiller made 12 saves for the win.

Softball

Babson 19, Smith 3 (5); Babson 12, Smith 2 — Makena Wagner (RBI) and Tyler Feeney each had two hits in Game 1, and Eryn Lee added two in Game 2, but the Pioneers (6-12, 1-5 NEWMAC) dropped the doubleheader at home.

Baseball

Coast Guard 9, Springfield 7 — Noah Bleakley (Granby) had four RBIs but the Pride (11-10, 3-4 NEWMAC) fell at home.

Women’s tennis

UMass 5, Davidson 2 — The Minutewomen (13-4) improved to 3-1 in the Atlantic 10 with the win at home.
