Smith Vocational’s Aidan Pike faced 15 batters Wednesday, striking out six, walking none, all without allowing a hit, securing him a perfect game.
“He’s not the fastest pitcher in the league but his control is very good,” Smith Vocational coach Luis Bonilla said. “When they did hit it our defense played very well with no errors.”
It was his second career no-hitter. The Vikings offense backed him up in a 16-0 victory in five innings at home.
Offensively, Pike went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. The Vikings also got contributions from Cole Boisvert who went 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI and Nathan Mollison who scored three runs with an RBI going 1-for-3.
“As a team we were in the zone, from one to nine we did very well,” Bonilla said. “It was just one of those games that a coach dreams of. For whatever reason the ball bounced well for us.”
Pike is one of the reasons the Vikings (5-2) have bounced back from their 0-2 start, outscoring opponents 59-11 during their five-game winning streak.
“He pitched a no-hitter last year and again here we go,” Bonilla said. “The kid’s amazing. He’s our team captain, he’s a great leader, I love watching him play.”
