The Amherst Regional baseball team came alive in the seventh inning.

Chicopee Comp’s pitching staff held the Hurricanes to one hit through six innings, but Amherst struck for seven hits and seven runs to walk off with an 8-7 victory, Friday at Stan Ziomek Diamond at Community Field.

Judah Katz, Eli Kayser-Hirsh and Evan Dooley singled to load the bases with no outs. Luke Leonard and J.B. Mills each followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Alex Irizarry then walked in a run to make it 7-4.

Evan Hu kept the bases loaded with no outs with an RBI single, and Justin Masteralexis tied it at 7 with a two-run double.

Eli Sloven walked to load the bases before Katz struck out for the first out. Kayser-Hirsh ended the game with a walk-off safety squeeze that scored Hu with the winning run.

“He put down and executed it perfectly. It worked out,” Amherst coach Michael Prattico said.

The Colts had five infielders playing back on the play. They brought their center fielder in and positioned him on the grass between the pitcher and second base.

Kayser-Hirsh earned the win with three innings of relief.

Left-hander Zachary Nichols, who committed to Wheaton, struck out 12 and allowed only a hit to Irizarry over 5 innings. Hunter Pennell took the loss in relief of Graham Topor.

Hopkins Academy 11, Lee 4 — The Golden Hawks (3-2) sent 11 hitters to the plate in the third inning, had six singles, two walks and took advantage of a wild pitch to score six runs and break the game open. Braedyn Tudryn had two hits in the inning.

Jack Feltovic (3-for-4) and Kouji Ishida (2-for-4) each had two RBIs and two runs scored. Liam Higgins was 3-for-4 and scored.

Pioneer Regional 9, Smith Vocational 6 — Nathan Mollison, Tom Doyle, Cole Boisvert and Troy Barayon (two RBIs) each had two hits, but the Vikings (5-3) fell in Northfield.

Race Drobiak had two RBIs.

Minnechaug 10, Northampton 2 — A two-run homer in the third broke things open for the Falcons, who never looked back in their win over the Blue Devils (1-5).

Jack Power went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored joined by Devontay Edmonds, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Softball

Northampton 3, Westfield 1 — Calista Lebron homered, Marissa Badorini (RBI) had two hits and Molly Allen added a hit and an RBI as the Blue Devils (4-3) won on the road.

Badorini struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits in the win.

Gateway Regional 22, Franklin Tech 10 (6) — Donna Viel cleared the bases with a triple in the fifth inning to break the game open as the Gators (3-1, 3-0 Tri-County) won in Huntington.

Stephanie Paiva had four hits, including a double. Nicole Hannigan had a walk-off bunt single.

Smith Vocational 15, Sci-Tech 0 (5) — Ashley Schabacker had a strong showing on the mound and at the plate as the Vikings (5-0) kept rolling.

Schabacker had seven strikeouts to go with only one walk while batting 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Karlie Petlock was 3-for-3 with two RBIs while Cassidy Colarusso tripled with two RBIs and a run. Ciara Sinno went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.

Agawam 8, Hampshire Regional 4 — The Raiders held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but suffered their first loss of the season after a four-error inning allowed the Brownies to rattle off eight runs.

Maggie Rubeck went 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored, while Brooke Kavanaugh went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Raiders (5-1).

Jocelyn Mettey had one hit and an RBI.

Girls lacrosse

Granby 20, Central 4 — Ella Laliberte and Rosalynn Vollbrecht (two assists) each had three goals, while Julia Frappier had three assists as the Rams cruised at home.

Madison Sexton (assist), Gabby Walz and Ariana Klekotka each scored twice.

Nora Bernashe (assist), Kate Ouellette, Emily Vallée, Cara Leblanc (assist), Justice Delaney, Kayla Klekotka, Destiny Roberge and Isabel Bullock each had one goal.

Liberty Conlin made six saves.

On Thursday, the Rams beat Mount Greylock, 10-9 at Williams College.

Frappier (seven draw controls, six groundballs) had five goals, including the game-winner with 17 seconds left. Sextion (two assists) scored three times, while Laliberte added a pair of tallies. Conlin made seven saves.

Boys lacrosse

Granby 5, Monson 4 — Mitch L’Abbee (assist) and Nate Drapeau each scored twice, while Layden Laramee (assist) had one goal as the Rams (2-4) held on at home.

Tanner Imelio had two assists and Nate Loughman made five saves.

Boys volleyball

Smith Vocational 3, Ware 0 — Tyler Top had two aces and five kills to lead the Vikings (1-3, 1-3 South) to victory in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-15).

Aman Ruhe also added five kills to go along with Eric Stoltz’s four aces. Trevonte Moore and Devin Hall had two kills each while Lukas Sturtevant contributed an ace and a kill.
