Depth helped the Amherst Regional boys tennis team beat Northampton, 3-2, at JFK Middle School on Tuesday.
The Hurricanes won both doubles points. Ethan Yu and Andy Ni took down Asa Geller and Chris Raphael-Reily 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Siddu Sitaraman and Rohan Shenoy won 7-6 (4), 6-2 against Gabe Brodeur and Noah Aronstein.
No. 3 singles player Aengus Cox bested Pierre Venne 6-1, 6-0 for the Hurricanes’ third point.
Northampton prevailed at the top two singles positions. Stafan Johnson beat James Serhant 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Aidan O’Brien beat Austin Xiong 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.
