It’s the time of year when the newness of spring prompts many who are eager to feel some freshness in their lives to clean and purge their homes of unneeded items. When I saw these discarded skis and poles with an inviting “FREE” sign next to them on Main Street in North Hatfield last week, I was reminded of my own collections of things that must be eliminated — or at least acknowledged and procrastinated about until the next season. Does the feeling of renewal and relief outweigh the annoying chore of the process? So far, I’ve felt no stirrings, but I’m hoping the warmth of the sun and the extra two minutes of daylight each day will awaken my inner housekeeper.
