Jackie Bukzin posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at first singles to clinch Amherst College’s 5-2 victory over Tufts in the NESCAC Tournament quarterfinals, Friday in Middlebury, Vermont.
Camille Smukler and Anya Ivenitsky earned the first victory when they beat Otilia Popa and Tomo Iwasaki 8-3 at second doubles.
Bukzin and Kelsey Chen gave the Mammoths the doubles point with an 8-3 win at first doubles.
Amherst will play Middlebury in the semifinals.
Middlebury 6, Amherst 4 (10) — Joe Palmo hit a game-tying three-run homer in the eighth, but the Panthers plated three in the 10th to win in Amherst.
Palmo was 3-for-4 and scored twice. Kyler Kopacz was 3-for-3. Andrew Ferrero struck out four over seven innings in the no decision.
