NORTHAMPTON – Sophia Zucker, right, of Northampton, joins her son Ellis, 2, center, Aeryca Steinbauer, left, of Holyoke, holding Tovah, 2, Kaya Rosen, 21 months, and Karis Padham of Greenfield, during a “Play Date Protest” Tuesday in U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern’s Northampton office. The protesters called on McGovern to take action to close migrant child detention centers at the border and free all those detained. Area parents and their children made art, sang songs and read statements to McGovern. The protest was organized by Zucker and is part of the national CloseTheCampsNow.org day of action.
