Goshen’s Taylor Beckwith will compete at the largest amateur motocross championship in the world for the second time this week.
He qualified for the 38th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National
Motocross Championship, held at Loretta Lynn’s family ranch in Tennesse. Nearly 20,000 racers will compete throughout the week.
Beckwith previously attended in 2017 and placed 22nd in the 85cc (9-11) limited category. Beckwith, now 14 years old, is racing in the Schoolboy category for 12- to 17-year-olds riding at 125cc motocross bike.
He reached the national championships by advancing out of area qualifiers and regional qualifiers to amek the cut.
Competition opened Monday, but Beckwith’s first race, also called a moto, is at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. All races will be streamed live on www.racertv.com.
He’ll also ride at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Results from all three motos are used to determine the final placement.
After a hiatus, the longstanding club softball program is back. It’s trying to gage the interest in 14U, 16U and 18U summer softball teams for the summer of 2020 that will compete in five to eight summer tournaments and attend the World Series in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
