NORTHAMPTON — Bridge Street School will no longer have to worry about looking for a new principal.
Beth Choquette, the elementary school’s principal since 2012, was recently named a finalist for the position of superintendent of the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District. But Monday night, School Committee members chose another finalist, Aaron Dean, as the new superintendent, according to a report in the Berkshire Eagle.
Choquette, who grew up in North Adams and lives in Cheshire, was considered for the position alongside Dean, the principal of Crosby Elementary School in Pittsfield.
When Choquette was named a finalist, Northampton Schools Superintendent John Provost said he had contacted retired elementary school principals who he would call on as interim leaders in the event Choquette left.
Choquette confirmed Tuesday that she will be staying at Bridge Street School.
