The president said in interviews this month that if you are a Jew who cares about Israel, “you have to vote for me” (in the 2020 election). To vote for the Democratic candidate means “you would be disloyal to Israel,” or stupid.
So he is setting himself as my judge as to whether I am a good Jew, telling me what I should think and how I should vote. Well, my response to Herr Trump is that the last I looked we are still a democracy.
He doesn’t have the right and, so far, the power, to make decisions for me. I do. Furthermore, when non-Jews in power start telling Jews what they should do or be, they always prove to be anti-Semitic. In defending white nationalists, Trump has already shown his true colors.
