The Hampshire Regional gymnastics team scored a program-best 130.025 at the Western Massachusetts championship meet last season en route to a third-place finish.
This fall the team welcomes six newcomers to the fold. The added number of gymnasts has helped create an environment of healthy competition.
โIt has helped us become a more unified team,โ said Hampshire coach Lisa Anthony.
Despite the additional gymnasts, the program will be without one of its top contributors from last season, Catrina Touchette.
The senior has opted to sit out this season due to injury. Still, she has been named a captain for the team and has elected to stay on to help coach and mentor younger gymnasts.
Senior Mason Willard is poised to be a standout for the team on the uneven bars this season. Newcomer Hailey Raffa showed promise in the offseason and could be a difference-maker for the program in the all-around.
