Michael Baldwin won the Longmeadow Early Bird tournament championship at 182 pounds and led the Hampshire Regional wrestling team to a fifth-place team finish Saturday. He pinned Sabis’ Myles Brown in 37 seconds. The Raiders had 85.5 points. Putnam won with 160.
Kobe Clifford was second at 195 pounds after losing 8-6 to Hampden Charter’s David Chartoyski in the final. Alex Willard took third (113). Bryce Illingsworth (160) and Max Abel (152) both placed fourth.
Frontier Regional finished seventh as a team (73). Tanner Finch claimed the 145-pound title when he pinned Sabis’ Christian Fagan in 3:17. Ito McMillan was second at 152 pounds after Hampden Charter’s Thomas Czartoryski beat him 9-1 for the championship. KC Mattson took fourth (182).
Holyoke’s Moses Oquendo captured the 106-pound championship with a 13-4 victory against Putnam’s Jose Alvarado. Davian Concepcion was fourth at 138 pounds. The Purple Knights finished ninth as a team (63 points).
Noah Will won the title at 220 pounds for South Hadley with am 8-6 decision over Duggan’s Juan DeJesus. Cayden Henriques took second at 113 after a 12-10 loss to Hampden Charter’s Lisandro Martinez. The Tigers were 12th.
Northampton finished 15th with a third-place showing from Colin Evans at 285 pounds.
Holyoke 78, Granby Memorial 67 — Freshman Bianca Ortiz swished six 3s and dropped a career-high 33 points, as the Purple Knights won Saturday. Destiny Calderon added 20 points, while Yamaya Perez scored eight for Holyoke (2-2).
South Hadley 51, Greenfield 50 — Paige Marjanski dribbled around two defenders and sank a reverse layup as time expired to give the Tigers (2-2) a win in the consolation game of the Hoosac Valley Holiday Tournament on Saturday. She led South Hadley (2-2) with 14 points. The Tigers rallied from a 43-39 deficit in the fourth quarter. Freshman Alex Jackson added 11 points on three 3s.
Smith Vocational 27, Pioneer Christian 12 — Haleigh Pensivy scored 11 points, as the Vikings picked up their first win of the season Friday. Iara Oliveira-Torres hit a 3 and scored five for Smith Vocational (1-2).
Longmeadow 69, Holyoke 65 — The Purple Knights couldn’t overcome the Lancers’ 10 3-pointers Friday.
Sophomore Jael Cabrera led Holoke (0-2) with 17 points and hit two 3s. William Cruz had 13 points, and Jesus Ibarra scored 12.
Southwick Regional 2, Easthampton — Liam Reynolds found the net for the Eagles (0-2) on Saturday. Goalie Tyler Darling saved 25 shots and assisted Reynolds.
MSTCA Speed Classic Small Schools — South Hadley’s Jonas Clarke won the 55-meter dash title in 6.57 seconds Sunday.
