NORTHAMPTON — On Monday, a wave of city and town officials will be sworn into office in ceremonies in Holyoke, Northampton and Amherst.

Holyoke City Council and School Committee members will be sworn in on Monday at 10 a.m. in the City Hall auditorium. After the event, the City Council will elect its new president. Libby Hernandez is the only new city councilor to be inaugurated and Rebecca Birks the only new School Committee member.

The Holyoke High School Madrigal Singers and the Holyoke Caledonian Pipe Band will perform, according to city officials.

In previous years, Amherst town officials would come to the Town Hall at their convenience to be sworn in, said Town Council Clerk Athena O’Keeffe. But this year, there will be an event on Monday at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.

“We’re doing a more formal ceremony for everyone who has just been elected, even if they had served before,” O’Keeffe said.

Amherst officials will be sworn into the School Committee, Housing Authority, Library Board of Trustees, and Elector under the Oliver Smith Will. New School Committee member Benjamin Joseph Herrington is the only non-incumbent that will take the oath of office.

Northampton’s ceremony will be held at 33 Hawley St. at 5:30 p.m. Officials will be sworn into office for the City Council, School Committee and the Community Preservation Committee. Residents also will be sworn in as trustees of Forbes Library, trustees of the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School and city clerk.

Easthampton held its inauguration event on Thursday.
