The Holyoke High School boys basketball team defeated Pittsfield, 76-63, on the road Friday night.

Jael Cabrera knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead the Purple Knights (3-3).

William Cruz added 18 points, Jovaughn Smith had 14 and Brian Cristobal chipped in with 10 for Holyoke, which outscored the Generals (3-5) 30-25 in a high-scoring fourth quarter.

Chicopee 63, Northampton 48 —Jake Brittain scored 16 points and picked up 18 rebounds for the Blue Devils (1-6). Treyvon James-Salus had nine points and nine rebounds.

“I thought we played a strong second half,” Northampton coach Rey Harp said. “We struggled to shoot in the first half. … We competed. they were better than us today.”

Frontier Regional 53, Greenfield 41 —Donovan Hoffman scored 20 points to lead the Red Hawks (6-1).

The loss was Greenfield’s first of the season.

“We played very well defensively in spurts,” Frontier Regional coach Ben Barshefsky said. “When we were making the correct slides on defense, forcing the non-dominant hand, Greenfield seemed to struggle to get into a flow offensively. I thought Hoffman tonight was the best player on the floor. Gabe Jones-Thomson was a menace on the defensive end off the bench. That energy helped us.”

Hopkins Academy 72, Pioneer Regional 57 — The Golden Hawks (5-3, 3-1 Hampshire South) had more 3-point field goals (13) than 2-point field goals (12) as they won on the road.

Andrew Ciaglo had 22 points with six 3s, while Colin Earle had 14 points on four 3s. Josiah Beck, Nate Waldon and Aidan Michalak each had one from deep.

Ryan Antes and Waldon each had eight points.

Mahar 51, Belchertown 40 — Jordan Lanoue finished with 14 points, while Nate Schiffer added 13, but the Orioles (2-3, 2-1 Hampshire South) fell to the Senators (4-3, 2-1) in Orange.

Smith Academy 67, Gateway Regional 44 —Riley Intrator scored 20 points to lead the Falcons (2-5). Nate Moynihan scored 16 points for Smith Academy.

Evan Cortis scored a game-high 24 points for Gateway (1-7).

Granby had issues defending against the Spartans’ frontcourt throughout the game.

“It was tough for us to match up with,” Granby coach Tom Burke said. “We gave up some second chance shots. We gave up some baskets on missed free throws. That hurts when that happens.”

Chicopee Comp 60, South Hadley 50 — Olivia Marion, Paige Marjanski and Talia Uribe each scored eight points, but the Tigers fell at home. Kate Walas and Bridget Sears added six points each for South Hadley (1-6).
