The UMass women’s basketball team never trailed and extended its record win streak with a 61-43 victory over Saint Joseph’s, Saturday at the Mullins Center.
The Minutewomen (13-3, 3-0 Atlantic 10) have won 10 straight. UMass is 3-0 in the A-10 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
Senior Hailey Leidel led the way with a game-high 18 points and was joined in double figures by classmate Vashnie Perry (15) and sophomore Destiney Philoxy (12).
Freshman Maeve Donnelly pulled down seven rebounds and added two blocks. Perry and junior Bre Hampton-Bey each had a pair of assists. Leidel and junior Sam Breen grabbed three steals each.
UMass hosts La Salle at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Amherst College 62, Williams 51 — The fourth-ranked Mammoths (13-1, 2-0 NESCAC) got 24 points and 10 rebounds from Medaline Eck, while Maggie Shipley (13) and Hannah Fox (11) also scored in double figures en route to the road win, Saturday.
Medgar Evers 53, Mount Holyoke 51 — Annika Brooks had 17 points and 17 boards, while Ellie Hayward had 12 points and Kyra Sanborn-Burch 10 for the Lyons (1-13), who fell at home Saturday.
Amherst 2, Connecticut College 1 — Stephanie Nomicos found the bottom-right corner of the net with wrist shot from the blue line with 19.3 seconds left as the Mammoths (7-3-2, 3-2-1 NESCAC) won at Orr Rink, Saturday.
Kaitlin Hoang also scored, while Caitlin Walker made 14 saves.
Bowdoin 5, Amherst 0 — Dan Dachille made 18 saves, but the Mammoths (2-9-1, 1-6-0 NESCAC) fell on the road, Saturday.
Williams 72, Amherst 69 — Eric Sellew had 22 points, while Devonn Allen and Fru Che each had 17, but the Mammoths (10-4, 1-1 NESCAC) fell at home, Saturday.
Westfield State 73, Framingham State 58 — Vawn Lord (Amherst) had 24 points as the Owls (9-5, 1-0 MASCAC) won at home, Saturday.
Beantown Challenge — Noah Kortkamp placed third in the long jump (22-8½) as UMass finished seventh at Harvard, Saturday.
Little III Championships — The Mammoths won nine events en route to its first Little III title in program history, Saturday in Middletown, Connecticut.
Amherst (138 points) edged Williams (136), while Wesleyan (85) was third.
Amherst’s 4×400-meter relay of Theo Bates, Kyland Smith, Ellis Phillips-Gallucci and Matthew Gelin won in 3:27.62 to clinch the title.
Beantown Challenge — Samantha Thompson placed first in the high jump (5-7¼) as UMass placed fourth at Harvard, Saturday.
Little III Championships — Amherst (116 points) finished second behind Williams (165) and in front of Wesleyan (75), Saturday in Middletown, Connecticut.
Juanita Jaramillo won the 400 (60.2), Ella Rossa won the 60 hurdles (9.16) and Annelise Romero won the triple jump (10.88 meters) for Amherst.
Williams 129, Amherst 114 — Craig Smith (200 backstroke, 1:50.10), Scott Romeyn (100 freestyle, 45.38) and Sean Mebust (200 breaststroke, 2:03.93) broke pool records but the Mammoths (4-1) fell at home, Saturday.
Williams 201.5, Amherst 98.5 — Nina Fitzgerald won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.97) and Lindsey Ruderman placed first on 3-meter diving (249.9), but the Mammoths (4-1) fell at home, Saturday.
Wellesley 164, Smith 126 — Shoshana Werblow won the 1-meter (228.35) and 3-meter (252.55) diving events, while Kristin Cirulli won the 500 free and 200 IM for the Pioneers, Saturday.
