South Hadley senior Nick Cirone made two free throws in the final second to seal a 53-50 boys basketball win over host Easthampton, Friday.

Easthampton’s Owen Morse missed a go-ahead 3-pointer with six seconds left, and the Tigers secured the rebound.

Hunter Carey also made late free throws for South Hadley (8-3, 2-2 Bi-County East) and scored 12 points. Cirone had five points.

Eddie Wykowski added nine points, while Dominic Valasquez scored eight.

Morse led the Eagles (1-10, 1-4) with 13 points and made three 3s, while Nate Morse hit four 3s and scored 12 points. Gabe Colenback also had 13 points.

Evan Cortis scored a game-high 25 points for Gateway (1-9, 0-2 Tri-County South). He made 15 free throws.

Hopkins Academy 63, Athol 51 — Andrew Ciaglo hit six 3-pointers en route to 26 points, while Colin Earle, Addison Phifer and Ryan Antes each had eight points for the visiting Golden Hawks (6-4).

Commerce 75, Northampton 48 — Gavin Bullock and Connor Tobin scored eight points each, as the Blue Devils’ two-game win streak ended on the road.

Treyvon James-Salus added seven points, and Seth Finnessey scored six for Northampton (3-7).

Frontier Regional 52, Belchertown 37 — Peter Carey led the Red Hawks with 22 points in a road win.

Collin Boudreau added eight points for Frontier (7-2), while Donovan Hoffman, Brett Robinson, Owen Walkowicz and Gherig Brynda scored six each.

The Red Hawks trailed 5-4 after a quarter but poured in 21 points in the second to pull away.

Nate Schiffer led the Orioles (2-5) with 10 points. Jordan Lanoue had eight.

Turners Falls 54, Smith Academy 40 — Caden Guimond hit four 3s and scored 18 points, but the Falcons (2-7) fell on the road. Riley Intrator added seven points, and Colin Ferrara had six.

Granby 51, Ware 48 — Brandon Wishart scored 12 points to help lead the Rams (5-3, 2-2 Bi-County West). Nathan Breault scored eight points.

Holyoke 78, Agawam 64 — Jovaughn Smith-Antuna scored 22 points, as the Purple Knights won their fourth game in a row. William Cruz and Jael Cabrera each had 13 points for Holyoke (5-3). Brian Christobal added 11.

Smith Vocational 64, Gateway Regional 37 —Jaxson Venne scored 19 points and picked up six rebounds to lead the Vikings (4-4, 3-0 Tri-County South) on Thursday. Gabriel Zink chipped in 15 points and made four 3-pointers.

Girls basketball

Gateway Regional 40, Commerce 25 — Peyton Bucko scored 17 points and made five 3-pointers to lead the Gators (4-5) on Friday.

Gateway held Commerce to a combined six points between the second and third quarter.

Hockey

Mount Everett 4, Easthampton 4 — Tyler Galpin scored twice and had an assist, as the Eagles tied on the road. Tyler Darling and Ryan O’Connor each distributed two assists for the Eagles (1-5-1), while Jake Delisle added a goal and an assist. Liam Reynolds found the net, and Garren Fugiel had an assist. Jayden Darling made 25 saves.

Girls hockey

Williston 2, St. Mark’s 1 — Ava DeCoste and Emily Crovo found the net in a road win. Natalie Stott played well in net.
