The Northampton Area League of Women Voters appreciates our local newspaper, the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
The recent expanded coverage of news in Holyoke and the continued coverage in the hilltowns, Easthampton and elsewhere is an affirmation of being neighbors with common goals for good government, schools and the environment. We learn about different and similar issues to be solved in each town.
Photos and descriptions of cultural events in the Valley give us an appreciation for why we live in western Massachusetts. We give thanks for increased coverage of state legislation by including the State Roll Call column, and columns by Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa and Sen. Jo Comerford. We give the Gazette an A+ for its ongoing coverage of climate change.
The Gazette and the League have for years co-sponsored and participated in Candidate Nights throughout the Valley. There are fewer local newspapers across our country. We in the Valley are fortunate to have one and a good one at that.
