Tuesday, March 3, is not only the presidential primary. In South Hadley, we are also holding local elections. I ask all South Hadley residents to vote for Sarah Etelman and Andrea Miles for Selectboard.
It’s important that we have as diverse a selectboard as possible as this board provides leadership on all municipal matters, from police to trash. In their previous terms on the board, Sarah and Andrea have brought not only their views as women, but also their critical thinking skills and professionalism to the table.
The fact that they’re running together, as a team, speaks volumes about their attitudes toward collaboration and its importance as a leadership tool. Both women have proven their ability to work well within the board, and across the many municipal offices and other boards with which the Selectboard interacts.
Over the next three years, South Hadley faces numerous challenges, from hiring a new town administrator and constructing a new senior center, to dealing with problems posed by bigger issues, such as climate change and growing inequality in our communities. As we move forward, we need seasoned leaders such as Sarah and Andrea.
Please vote for Sarah Etelman and Andrea Miles on Tuesday, March 3. And above all — vote!
