The League of Women Voters of Amherst, which is celebrating our 80th birthday, is generally known as an organization that educates voters and encourages them to participate in local, state and national matters (candidate forums and election guides, for example).
Perhaps less well known is our research, study and advocacy on issues such as the climate crisis, health care, affordable housing, energy and social justice. If these concerns match any of your own and if you have specific ideas about how to further one of the leagueโs priorities and if you need some financial support (up to $1,000), you might consider applying for one of our civic action grants.
Whether you are a league member or not, part of a non-profit group, a student or another individual, you are encouraged to apply. Information, including the leagueโs programs and application forms, can be found at our website, lwvamherst.org. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you turn your ideas into civic action.
