NORTHAMPTON — Hundreds of people, and dozens of dogs, traipsed across the tarp-covered floor of the high school gymnasium Saturday afternoon for the 15th annual VINS Dog Show. The event, a fundraiser for Volunteers in Northampton Schools, is always held on the first Saturday of March and is subtitled “March Forth with Your Dog … Not Your Typical Dog Show,” as it debuted on Saturday, March 4th, 2006. After Mayor David Narkewicz led the March of the Dogs parade — including dogs who just dropped by to watch — the competition began in earnest with judging provided by Northampton High School Principal Lori Vaillancourt, Superintendent John Provost and Jackson Street School Principal Gwen Agna. The 14 categories included Best Singing Voice, Best Dancing Dog and Best Hair.
