NORTHAMPTON — Another 96 COVID-19 deaths, including a Hampshire County man in his 70s with underlying health conditions, have been reported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The Friday report brings to 599 the number of deaths statewide attributed to the novel coronavirus.
The state added 2,033 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, which increases the statewide total to 20,974. Those come from 7,414 new tests, with 102,372 tests completed.
Hampshire County cases rose to 194, meaning another 17 positive cases were added from the previous day.
Cooley Dickinson Hospital reported Friday that it is treating 13 inpatients with confirmed COVID-19 infections, four of whom are in the intensive care unit.
The hospital reported 73 patients under investigation for possible infections. The hospital has had 124 cases come back positive among tests it has administered.
For the Baystate Health System, 2,603 individuals have been tested, with 584 positive for COVID-19 and 30 still pending results. Currently, the system is caring for 170 hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection, 29 of whom are in critical care units, and nine who are hospitalized under investigation for COVID-19. Nearly two-thirds of the total confirmed patients with COVID-19 infection were never admitted or were discharged and are recovering.
