NORTHAMPTON — A bicyclist was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a car on King Street.

Northampton police and emergency responders arrived at 388 King St. at 1:13 p.m. for a car versus bicycle crash, according to a post by Police Chief Jody Kasper on the police department’s Facebook page. Northampton Det. Lt. Craig Kirouac said he believes the bicyclist was a woman from Northampton.

Kasper said a car was trying to pull into D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches when it hit the bicyclist, who suffered lacerations and a shoulder injury and was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital.  The crash is under investigation, Kasper said.
