EASTHAMPTON — The person who suffered from self-inflicted gunshot wounds last Friday in a car on Ferry Street has since been treated and released from the hospital, according to police.

Police Sgt. Dennis Scribner said Wednesday that the man was treated at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and is now at home recovering after being released. He said the person had shot themselves in the hand and leg. Scribner said he did not have any information regarding the man’s age.

Police were called to the area of Ferry Street and the Manhan Rail Trail at 1:16 p.m. last Friday after receiving reports of shots fired and an injured person inside a car that was stopped in the middle of the road. Officers provided medical aid and the person was transported to the hospital.
