■Northampton is being sued for a $38,550 cut in its $4.25 million school budget. A ten-taxpayers suit against the city of Northampton was filed in Hampshire Superior Court yesterday seeking restoration of the $28,550 cut which the City Council made in the 1970 school budget.

■An Ecology Fair was held on Saturday in Pulaski Park. Displays and exhibits concerning population, pesticides, Rte. 9, nuclear power, and other environmental issues were available for the public to examine.

■When an issue concerns young people, it’s frustrating to have it debated and decided only by adults, a group of teenagers says. So a group of local teens has organized what’s called the Young People’s March for Equality, saying they hope to make a point to all: young people need a voice in issues that involve them.

■Arlo Guthrie and his son Abe will play together next weekend at “Raise the Roof ‘95.” The event is being organized by the Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity as a fundraiser. In addition to the free music concert, the event will feature birdhouse and shed auctions, home and craft shows, building supply sales and a Lego work area for architecturally include youngsters.

■The Northampton School Committee unanimously approved Superintendent of Schools Isabelina Rodriguez’s appointment of Nathan Ziegler as director of special education, with several members lauding his leadership.

■”The Bill Dwight Show,” a morning talk program on WHMP-AM, is off the air for good. Bill Dwight and managers at the radio station said Tuesday they were hopeful they could come to terms that would allow the show to continue, but on Wednesday, Dwight said that those talks proved unsuccessful.
