Behind a 12-hit attack, Frontier captured the Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Mickey Mantle championship on Saturday.

The club took a 2-0 lead and handled its business from there, defeating Brattleboro, 7-3, in the final.

Frontier finished the tournament 4-0 after a regular-season mark of 12-3-1.

Tynan Creagh had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to pace the offensive attack. Creagh got the team off and running with a two-run double in the first inning.

Tom Alber, Ben Zaranek and Kevin Baumann all had two hits, while Kyle Barnes singled and drove in two runs. Gehrig Brynda, Ben Martino and Dylan Martin each added a hit.

Maxwell Edwards snagged the win on the mound, tossing six innings for Frontier with three strikeouts. The club aided him with stellar defense, committing just one error, and Barnes nailed down the title in the seventh.

In the semifinals earlier Saturday, Frontier eliminated Mohawk with a 6-1 victory.

Brynda tossed a gem, striking out three while allowing just three hits and one walk in a complete game effort. He helped himself with two hits and three RBIs, while Martino also smacked two hits and Edwards had a hit and an RBI.

Frontier scored four times in the first inning and added two more in the third to set the tone.

In the third round of the double-elimination tournament on Friday, Frontier edged Brattleboro, 7-6, while Mohawk eliminated Northampton, 9-2.
