SPRINGFIELD – A Holyoke man was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Springfield for distributing heroin.
Judge Mark G. Mastroianni sentenced Jayson Quinones, 35, to 14 months in prison and three years of supervised release. In May 2020, Quinones pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing with intent to distribute heroin.
Quinones sold heroin on Oct. 7, 2019 in Holyoke. His arrest was the result of a multi-agency investigation into heroin trafficking in Holyoke dubbed “Operation Open Air.”
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling; Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division; Colonel Christopher Mason, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police; and Holyoke Police Chief Manny Febo made the announcement. Assistant United States Attorney Todd E. Newhouse of Lelling’s Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
