BELCHERTOWN — Police are investigating a Thursday shooting in which a 22-year-old male was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound that wasn’t considered life-threatening.

Officers around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday responded to a report of a shooting on Shea Avenue, according to a statement released by police. A 22-year-old male was found with a single gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital in Springfield.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit attached to the Northwestern district attorney’s office responded, as well as troopers assigned to the State Police Crime Scene Services and Ballistics Sections. Police say the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
