■Samuel Clarke, Jun., offers for sale his homestead, which is recommended for its pleasant situation, convenient and capacious house, good garden, two wells of water, orchards of various fruit; it is well fitted for a boarding house or tavern. Also, two home lots each containing one and a half acres of mowing land, one very near the meeting house in Northampton.
■A letter received this morning from W. Briceland Nash, who is on his way to Florida by automobile, stated that he reached South Hill, Va., Friday night, having made the 178-mile run from Fredericksburg in eight hours.
■The poultry show held by the Northampton Poultry association, which closed Saturday night, was one of the most successful in the history of the association. The turkey offered by the association was won by Francis B. Hertel of Florence.
■The Courthouse Building Committee has recommended that the Hampshire County Commissioners “take appropriate action” to provide $5 million in funding for a new County court and office facility on Pleasant St. The committee’s report said, “The Pleasant St. location provides the best site for the County Courthouse and office facilities due to its proximity to the Central Business District, its convenience to the major road network of the county, and the possibility of future expansion.”
■The Northampton Planning Board was presented last night with a preliminary subdivision plan for a middle-income residential development near Florence and Park Hill Rd., by Plantation Valley Homes. The 14 acre site, formerly the property of David Ewing, will be divided into 40 home lots, each to be sold for between $20,000 and $25,000.
