AMHERST — Milling of East Hadley Road from South Pleasant Street to the Hadley town line begins Thursday as roadwork throughout town gets underway.
Warner Brothers LLC of Sunderland and Garrity Asphalt of Bloomfield, Connecticut are overseeing the work that will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The milling, expected to last two days, involves removing the top two inches of asphalt in preparation for new pavement.
Also starting this week as part of up to $3 million in projects is the reclamation of Bay Road from Hulst Road to the Belchertown town line. Reclamation involves turning existing asphalt into gravel to create a stable sub-base that will accept new pavement.
Residents and commuters using the roads should expect traffic delays and on-street parking will be prohibited for the duration of the projects.
