NORTHAMPTON — Police found a missing senior who had fallen down an embankment on Monday night and spent hours yelling for help.
At around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a home on South Street to help the resident find their husband. He had left three hours prior to walk the dog, a task that typically takes half an hour, police said in a social media post.
According to police, the resident said the dog had returned “with its leash in tow, minus its owner,” an 84-year-old man with mobility challenges who uses a cane.
“Officers searched the area and were able to locate the owner within minutes,” police said, finding that he had fallen down a steep, 20-foot embankment in the woods and was trying to attract attention.
Northampton Fire Rescue brought the man to Cooley Dickinson Hospital with injuries that are believed to be minor.
