Charlie Anischik and Ben Foley teamed up for the South Hadley boys soccer team’s lone goal of the evening as the Tigers defeated Mount Everett 1-0 on Thursday.

Anischik picked up the goal and Foley tallied the assist in the Moriarty League matchup. 

Tigers keeper Eddie Wykowski made six saves for the shutout.

Girls soccer

Amherst 1, Easthampton 0 – Felix Goeckel scored Amherst’s goal in the second half to propel the Hurricanes to a win over Easthampton. 

Easthampton keeper Mona Young made seven stops and Amherst goalie Brooke Weinman stopped three shots.

Holyoke 8, Renaissance 1 – Seven different players found the back of the net for Holyoke on Thursday night. 

Veronica Colon scored twice, and Kayshaly Garcia, Alex Valentine, Jaylene Moquin, Tryanna Ayala, Ella Washington and Yasani Thompson also scored. Emma Puza notched three assists and Thompson and Valentine also picked up an assist each. 

Keeper Jayvah Stuckey made one save. 

Hopkins 4, Hampden Charter 0 – Sadie Cyr scored twice and added an assist in a shutout win over Hampden Charter. 

Kasey Earle also scored twice for Hopkins, and Olivia Earle and Morgan Augustin had a helper each. 

Keeper Cassidy Fyden made two stops to preserve the shutout. 

Smith Academy 7, Franklin Tech 0 – Emma Moynihan scored more than half of Smith Academy’s goals on Thursday, netting four goals against Franklin Tech. 

Story Goldman added two goals and an assist and Meghan Bell had a goal and two assists. Anna Scagel had two assists and keeper Madison Zononi stopped six shots. 

Smith Voc 2, McCann 0 – In a fierce Tri-County rivalry game, Monique Fredette scored on a penalty kick and assisted on Caitlin Willard’s goal in Smith Voc’s victory over McCann. 

Vikings goalie Maggie Lauder put on a clinic in the win, stopping 19 shots to earn the shutout. 

South Hadley 3, Agawam 0 – Lauren Marjanski scored twice and assisted on Emma Sanford’s goal in a shutout win over Agawam. 

Maddie Soderbaum and Gianna Roy also had assists for the Tigers. Goalies Rylee Suchenicz and Drew Alley made four and six stops, respectively. 

Monson 7, Granby 1 – Granby keeper Eleanor Szlosek made 16 stops and Maggie Crawford scored for Granby in the Rams’ loss on Thursday. 

Belchertown 1, Ludlow 0 – Madysen LePage scored the lone goal in Belchertown’s victory over Ludlow. 

Keepers Michaela Dubey and Jill DeBarge both made three saves in goal. 

Mount Everett 4, Gateway 0 – Jayliana Rivera and Amy Fisk made two saves apiece in a shutout loss for Gateway. 

Field hockey

Longmeadow 0, Frontier 0 – Frontier’s goalie Ella Flanders was lights out for the Redhawks, stopping 14 shots to give Frontier a tie against Longmeadow on Thursday. 

Minnechaug 6, South Hadley 1 – Ella Haber scored the Tigers’ lone goal and Ashley Scott picked up an assist in South Hadley’s loss to Minnechaug. 

Girls volleyball

Amherst 3, Agawam 0 – The Hurricanes won a close match in straight sets (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) against Agawam. 

Amalia Martin shone again for Amherst, putting up 16 digs, 15 assists, 11 kills and five aces. Annabel Ogden had 11 assist and five digs, and Ruby Austin and Audrey Bowen had five kills each. Liza Beigel posted five digs in the win. 

Frontier 3, Minnechaug 0 – Frontier remained undefeated on Thursday, earning its 12th win of the season with a three-set victory (25-6, 25-11, 25-4) over Minnechaug. 

Setter Sydney Scanlon finished with 23 assists and four aces, Jillian Apanell had  seven kills, Aine Carey served up six aces, and Gabby Adams had  seven kills and three digs. Caroline Deane added eight digs and four aces for the Redhawks. 

Holyoke 3, Springfield Central 2 – Holyoke went the distance on Thursday, taking  down Springfield Central in a five-set marathon (25-23, 25-22, 16-25, 9-25, 15-11). 

Boys golf

South Hadley 15 ½, Southwick 8 ½ – With its eighth win of the season, South Hadley qualified for the Division 2 Western Mass tournament on Thursday. 

Four of the Tigers won their matches – Ryan MacGregor, Nick Hartley, Bennett Allen and Evan Wartel. 

Frontier 16 ½,  Amherst 7 ½ – Amherst’s Ben Scott was the medalist with a low score of 38, but it was Frontier who walked away with a win on Thursday. 

Scott was the only Hurricane to win his match. Ryan Cetto (43), Alex Gochinski (48), Andy Wood (46), Cade Allenby (54) and Marcus Larsson (62) all bested their opponents for Frontier.

Gateway 15, Greenfield 50

Easthampton 15, Greenfield 50 –
 Gateway finished with four of the five best times in a four-team meet on Thursday. 

Gateway’s Anya Niles (24:56) was just edged out of the top spot by Greenfield’s Ava Fortin (24:55) on the 5k course. Alexandra Henrichon (25:01) placed third, Lucy Pitoniak (26:48) finished fourth and Sawyer Wilkinson (27:37) crossed the line fifth for Gateway. 

Easthampton’s Brooke Bongiovanni placed sixth overall with a time of 28:28.
