Both the South Hadley boys and girls soccer teams have the inside track on winning a state title.

The MIAA released its soccer tournament seeding and brackets on Wednesday, and both Tiger squads were awarded the No. 1 seeds in their respective brackets. Both teams were eliminated in the first round of last year’s tournament, but this season looks to be different. 

On the boys side, four teams in the Division 4 tournament earned top-10 rankings.

The top seed, No. 1 South Hadley, will host either No. 32 Amesbury or No. 33 Madison Park Voc in the Round of 32. No. 3 Hampshire will face either No. 30 Bourne or No. 35 Sturgis Charter West, while No. 5 Frontier will play either No. 28 Manchester Essex or No. 37 Monomoy. Rounding out local teams is No. 7 Easthampton, the defending state champs, which will play either No. 26 West Bridgewater or No. 39 Tri-County RVT. 

Also a top contender is No. 3 Belchertown in Division 3, and the Orioles will square off against either No. 30 East Boston and No. 35 Archbishop Williams in the Round of 32. 

Both Northampton and Amherst qualified for the Division 2 tournament. The No. 25 Hurricanes will travel to No. 9 Masconomet Regional in the Round of 32, while No. 33 Northampton will visit No. 32 Reading Memorial in the preliminary round.

In Division 5, No. 24 Smith Academy will host No. 41 Hoosac Valley, No. 28 Granby will host No. 37 McCann Tech and No. 35 Hopkins Academy will travel to No. 30 Lenox Memorial in preliminary round action. 

On the girls side of things, No. 1 South Hadley will face either No. 32 Triton Regional or No. 33 Advanced Math & Science in the Div.3 Round of 32.

Also qualifying in Division 3 was No. 6 Belchertown, which will play either No. 38 Revere or No. 27 Bishop Stang in the opening round. 

In Division 2, both the Northampton and Amherst girls teams earned spots in the preliminary round. Looking to advance to the Round of 32 is No. 36 Amherst, which will take on No. 29 Whitman-Hanson Regional, and No. 40 Northampton, which will travel to No. 25 Westwood. 

In Division 4, Hampshire also earned an impressive ranking with the No. 4 spot. The Raiders will play either No. 29 Blackstone-Millville or No. 36 Tri-County RVT. Also in Division 4, No. 18 Easthampton will visit No. 15 Leicester in the Round of 32.

Four teams made the Division 5 tournament on the girls side, led by No. 20 Smith Academy. The Falcons will host No. 45 Boston Collegiate in the preliminary round. Also qualifying is No. 23 Granby, which will play No. 42 Upper Cape Cod RVT in the prelims, No. 24 Frontier, which will face No. 41 Matignon, No. 29 Hopkins, which will battle No. 36 Saint Joseph Prep, and No. 35 Smith Voc, which will travel to play at No. 30 Hopedale.
