Rosendo Santizo, owner of Winter Moon Roots in Hadley, washes beets to get ready to take to retail outlets and to Grow Food Northampton’s Winter Market last weekend. “The macomber rutabaga is so sweet,” said Santizo, “Everyone thinks badly of rutabagas but these are so sweet you can eat raw, in soups or roasted.” Winter Moon will sell its product at the Winter Market this season. The market is open every other Saturday through April 5, with the next one scheduled for Dec. 21. -
