As the Northampton City Council considers a proposed ban on fossil fuels in new buildings, I urge them to consider the price tag on the alternative.
The proposed ban is part of a larger effort to wean the city and the country off of fossil fuels, which are the leading cause of the climate crisis. We are currently watching, in the California wildfires, the result of climate change — so far.
It will get worse. And even if disasters don’t happen right here, we are all in this together — we, California, and the rest of the world. I hope the City Council will make Northampton part of the solution. Every bit we can do will help us all.
