Regarding the article, “Letter to feds riles library backers,” (Gazette, April 23), here is a letter I intend to send to the White House:

To President Donald Trump:

I write in (muted) support of Jeff Lee’s letter urging you to block federal funding towards the reconstruction of Jones Library in Amherst, MA. In particular, he calls attention to the shocking plan to convert bathrooms to “gender neutral.” I have always wondered why American presidents have not concerned themselves with how public bathrooms should be labeled.

I also want to commend you for restoring plastic straws in government buildings. And for banning pictures of “Enola Gay” from Defense Department websites (Hegseth’s idea perhaps?). And for imposing tariffs on Antarctic islands inhabited only by penguins. And for blocking congestion fees in Midtown Manhattan. And for your promise to bring back coal to accelerate the onset of global climate catastrophe.

Actually, maybe you should stick to bathrooms from now on.
