The Hopkins Academy golf team kicked off its season in style at Westover Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon, as the Golden Hawks welcomed Turners Falls and took care of business for a 175-194 victory to improve to 1-0 on the year.
After a stellar summer playing in MassGolf events, Ryley Regan picked up right where she left off with the lowest round of the day. The freshman carded a 38 to earn medalist honors. Aiden Keeling-Lococo followed suit with a strong round of 39 and Chace Earle shot 46. Jessica Waskiewicz’s 52 was Hopkins’ fourth score used to give the Hawks a total of 175.
Turners Falls was led by Ethan Eichorn, who shot a 42 as the lone Thunder golfer to break 45 on the day.
Belchertown 165, Chicopee Comp 183 — The Orioles kicked off their season with a decisive win over the Colts at Cold Spring Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Belchertown is looking to have similar success as it did last year when the Os finished 11-4.
Late Tuesday results

Tanner Kmetz was the match medalist with a 35 while Garrett Piemonte turned in an even-par round of 36.
Minnechaug 152, South Hadley 173 — Ryan MacGregor’s team-low round of 40 wasn’t enough for the Tigers to get past a strong Falcons team on Tuesday afternoon at Country Club of Wilbraham.
Ali Awkal (36), Ryan Giombetti (37) and Logan Thomas (39) all shot rounds below 40 to pace Minneachaug in the season-opening victory.
