I wish to thank two recent letter writers, Marc Gurvitch (Aug. 19, “Antisemitism commission report an affront to free speech”) and the Rev. Peter Kakos (Aug. 21, “Slain Palestinian journalists”). Antisemitism has never gone away, and I and many other Jews feel much less safe now, precisely because of the current regime’s

witch hunt for antisemites. It’s painful to see some in my own community enable that witch hunt, by kowtowing to Trump’s twisted framing of antisemitism for his own ends. He knows how to confuse us on this issue, that is clear! And it is abundantly obvious that those currently weaponizing antisemitism don’t care about Jews!

I also wish to add my voice to Kakos’ call for the U.S. to stop financing Israel’s “version of a Hitlerian final solution” in Gaza. It is also obvious that Netanyahu’s barbarous slaughter has made the world less safe for Jews.

The state’s Commission on Combatting Antisemitism would do better to work toward pressuring our government to stop fueling and profiting from this orchestrated genocide — and racism in all forms — instead of those who criticize it.
