Irresponsible L3Harris protests

I totally agree with Marc Warner’s column, “L3Harris protests are off-base and irresponsible” [Gazette, Sept. 4]. Running L3Harris out of town would only serve to eliminate good-paying jobs, put a crimp in the city’s tax revenues, and would in no way end the production of whatever materials that are being protested against. Too often progressives attempt to push issues and go too far with agendas that do not resonate with the mainstream public.

The cause to reform and make police accountable becomes “Defund the Police”; supporting and defending LGBTQ rights becomes insisting that trans-women should be able to compete in sports with women who have not had the same biological advantage. This just alienates the majority and provides ammunition to the right wing Media to distort issues and make liberals look foolish. If we ever want to rid ourselves from MAGA world we, and our elected leaders, need to focus on issues that matter to folks not just in our blue bubble, but in the so-called heartland, and not get mired down in quixotic pursuits that turn them off.

Instead of going for blood, maybe the L3Harris protestors could suggest to the management that the company would be seen as a better neighbor by contributing more to our schools, non-profits, and local projects.
